{"id":1711,"date":"2018-03-13T22:52:54","date_gmt":"2018-03-14T03:52:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bluegalaxy.info\/codewalk\/?p=1711"},"modified":"2018-03-17T09:59:10","modified_gmt":"2018-03-17T14:59:10","slug":"how-to-install-meteor-get-project-started-less-5-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bluegalaxy.info\/codewalk\/2018\/03\/13\/how-to-install-meteor-get-project-started-less-5-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"Meteor: How to install Meteor and get a project started in less than 5 minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this article, I want to detail how to install Meteor and get a project quickly up and running.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 1: Install Meteor<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In order to install Meteor, the first step according to the installation instructions is to install a tool called \u201cchocolatey\u201d.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/chocolatey.org\/install\">https:\/\/chocolatey.org\/install<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This can be installed with a cmd.exe command.<\/p>\n<p>Once that is installed, run the following command in the command window running in Administrator mode.<\/p>\n<p><code class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"no-highlight\">choco install meteor<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1734\" src=\"http:\/\/bluegalaxy.info\/codewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/meteor_install.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"958\" height=\"942\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluegalaxy.info\/codewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/meteor_install.png 958w, https:\/\/bluegalaxy.info\/codewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/meteor_install-300x295.png 300w, https:\/\/bluegalaxy.info\/codewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/meteor_install-768x755.png 768w, https:\/\/bluegalaxy.info\/codewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/meteor_install-676x665.png 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 958px) 100vw, 958px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For more information see:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.meteor.com\/install\">https:\/\/www.meteor.com\/install<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 2: Create a Meteor app project<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For this step, close down the original cmd window and open a fresh copy, running in Administrator mode. At the admin command window run the following command:<\/p>\n<p><code class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"no-highlight\">meteor create myapp<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Then cd to myapp and run this command:<\/p>\n<p><code class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"no-highlight\">meteor npm install<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Once that is complete, simply launch meteor like so:<\/p>\n<p><code class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"no-highlight\">meteor<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Now there should be some files and folders inside the newly created myapp folder.
